How it works

How an engagement works

Blurred silhouette of a businessperson walking and talking on a phone beside a tiled urban building.
01
Confidential consultation
A confidential conversation to understand the principal’s circumstances, concerns and environment, and to decide what further work would involve.
02
Threat and risk assessment
Assessment of the principal’s threat profile, daily patterns, travel schedule, residential arrangements and existing security. The result is an accurate, current picture of the risk that everything else is built on.
03
Protection planning
From that assessment, a protection plan is developed covering routes, staffing levels, communication protocols and escalation triggers. It is reviewed with the principal or their adviser before anything starts.
04
Implementation and oversight
Active management of the operation as it runs. Routes are assessed in real time, staffing is adjusted when schedules change, and escalation decisions are made against a plan built for that principal, that itinerary and that risk.
05
Review and adaptation
Every assignment is debriefed. For ongoing programmes, reviews follow the client’s governance calendar. Threat assessments update as circumstances change, and reporting is written for the people who need to act on it.
why grey prism

Grey Prism combines strategic advisory, intelligence capability, and discreet operational support to help organisations manage risk with clarity and confidence.

Senior oversight from start to finish

The consultant who assesses the risk leads the engagement through to completion. They know the principal’s circumstances, know the file and remain accountable for the outcome.

The plan moves with the threat picture

Close protection built on an old assessment is protection built on the wrong problem. The intelligence picture is monitored continuously so the posture changes when the picture changes.

Discretion as policy

Grey Prism does not publish client names, share engagement photographs or signal who it works with on any platform. NDAs and secure communications are standard.

Everything documented from the start

Risk assessments, protection plans, operating procedures, incident reports and review summaries are written from the outset, in a format suitable for board, risk committee or family office review.

Integrated capability across Grey Prism

Protective security often surfaces a wider issue: a surveillance threat, a residential vulnerability or a developing crisis. Grey Prism’s protective work sits alongside TSCM, residential security advisory and crisis response, so related risks can be addressed within the same firm.
FAQs

Common questions

Are you a close protection company or a consultancy?
Grey Prism is a consultancy. It advises on, plans and oversees protective security. Where operatives are required, Grey Prism defines the need, sources and vets them to documented standards, and manages the operation.
What standards do your operatives work to?
All operatives deployed on Grey Prism engagements hold current SIA Close Protection licences, are vetted to BS7858, hold current first aid qualifications and complete refresher training that meets or exceeds updated SIA requirements.
How do you handle confidentiality?
All engagements operate under NDAs. Information is shared on a strict need-to-know basis, communications use encrypted channels, and client details are never published.
How quickly can you mobilise support?
It depends on the complexity of the requirement. A travel brief for a known client can turn around quickly, but a new programme requires proper assessment first.
Can you review an existing protection team?
Yes. Reviewing an existing team is a common model. Grey Prism assesses procedures, competence and governance, and works alongside the existing team to strengthen performance and documentation.
Can you provide armed protection?
Not in the United Kingdom. In overseas jurisdictions where local law permits, armed protection can be coordinated through vetted in-country partners, subject to legal review and documented compliance.
What is included in a threat and risk assessment?
It is specific to the principal, their circumstances and their environment. The output is a written assessment with threat ratings, vulnerability analysis and prioritised next steps.
Do you work internationally?
Yes. Grey Prism is UK-led and delivers internationally through vetted in-country partners, managed to Grey Prism standards and under Grey Prism governance.
